Kourtney Kardashian’s Makeup Artist Revealed His Biggest Secret For A Snatched Face

Ariel Tejada is the makeup artist of many A-list celebrities, including Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Shay Mitchell. He is known for his full glam makeup looks, snatched contours, and fox-eye looks. His makeup application is unbelievably precise, and his looks are easily recognizable. So if someone of his caliber is willing to give us some makeup advice, we will gladly accept it.

He has never been shy about sharing his makeup tips on YouTube and TikTok. Shay Mitchell featured him in many of her videos, where he went in-depth about the makeup application process, and different techniques that even makeup beginners can try out. But recently, Ariel made headlines after he revealed his biggest secret for achieving a snatched and sculpted face.

Choose the right product

While contouring isn’t nearly as popular as it was a couple of years ago, it is still a great way to give your face that little extra dimension. My attempts at contouring in 2016 were questionable, to say the least. Everyone was always talking about how you should use cool-toned shades to create a natural-looking shadow. But no one warned you that the end-results can look muddy and as if you have actual dirt on your face.

Thankfully, those days are over, and we have some great contouring products available even at the drugstore. Ariel revealed that he prefers cream products for contouring. “I use [cream contour] on red carpets and photoshoots because it’s a little heavier and gives me a more flawless finish.”

Don’t overdo it

You don’t have to contour on a daily basis. Ariel said: “It’s important that people know that it’s unrealistic to walk out with what is considered highlighting and contouring on a daily basis.” Contouring looks best with a full face of makeup, which most people wear for a night out or other special occasions. If you are just wearing a tinted moisturizer, some mascara and lipgloss, definitely skip the contour.

But if you still want to add some dimension to your face, you can opt for a bronzer. “For every day, a little soft bronzer underneath the cheekbone will really just enhance your features and make your cheekbones look a little more plump and high.”

Forget the 3 shape

Remember how everyone always says that you should apply your contour in a 3 shape? Well, according to Ariel, that isn’t the best technique for every face shape. He explained: “I feel like people mistake contouring for a cookie cutter method, thinking that you have to go around the hairline and the cheekbone. Not everyone needs that exact method, and you shouldn’t contour the entire face if it isn’t necessary – [for example], people who have a smaller forehead don’t want to go in and shade that area because [that’s] going to make it appear smaller.”

Don’t forget to set

Lastly, don’t forget to set your makeup with a light layer of powder. “It’s impossible to walk out the door without setting powder. Any setting powder that has the name translucent will work,” Ariel explained. This will help your makeup stay in place all day, and will minimize the chances of your contour transferring the moment you hug someone. Especially if you opted for a cream contouring product.
