Kylie Jenner’s shower routine
In a recent video that Kylie did with her sister Khloe, the influencer revealed all her tips and tricks when it comes to showering. She explained that she is one of the 70% of people that prefers to shower from top to bottom. “I like to get in and start with my hair—shampoo and conditioner. I like my conditioner to be out of my hair, then I can wash it off my body, do you know what I mean? I feel like sometimes conditioner lingers on your body.”
“It does,” Khloe answered. “That’s why people get body acne. I learned that from my dermatologist.” While this tip sound pretty simple, it’s actually something that many people overlook. So if you have trouble with acne on your back or arms, chances are that conditioners or hair masks are clogging up the pores on your skin. You can leave the conditioner on for a few minutes while you shave your legs, and then rinse it off generously. Put your hair up in a bun, and follow it up with your body wash routine.
Kylie also revealed that she uses a loofahs, in fact, both her and her sister use a pink loofah. Loofahs are a form of physical exfoliation, they help you get rid of dead skin cells. However, this is a pretty harsh form of exfoliation. If you have super sensitive skin, you might want to skip this step. Rather go for a shower gel that features chemical exfoliants like salicylic acid or glycolic acid.
As for her post-shower routine, Jenner said: “I drench myself in organic oils that I get off Amazon.” She explained that she applies the oils while her skin is still wet, as it allows the oils to sink in deeper into the skin. She added that her oils of choice are “almond oil, or olive oil, or jojoba oil”. In the video, her sister Khloe admitted that she too enjoys using organic oils instead of actual body lotions.
When it comes to organic oils, they are a great way to moisturize your skin after a hot shower. However, they won’t work for everyone. If your skin is already oily, you will probably prefer a light-weight body lotion instead of oil. The problem with oils is also that they don’t hydrate the skin, instead, they just trap the moisture that is already on our skin and prevent trans-epidermal water loss. However, you can also opt for rich body creams that contain jojoba or almond oil in their ingredient lists.
